An Airbnb booking won't work as address proof; you need a resident who can register you at their address or a lease in your name.

Lease needs to be registered at the cartório to count.

True, but the declaração has to name the actual street address, so a host in Pinheiros has to commit in writing before u pay.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Despachante saved me a week, worth the R$300.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Which office did you use? The ones by Praça da Sé quoted me R$450 and wanted cash upfront.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

R$300 is fair, but check they'll handle the address declaration with your host directly rather than just filing the form.

arrow_drop_up 23 arrow_drop_down

yeah and get it in writing that the host actually signs the declaração de residência, not just agrees verbally. some hosts get spooked once they realize it puts their name on file with receita. worth asking before you pay anyone.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

honestly the receita usually accepts a declaração de residência signed by whoever youre staying with, even short term. but for the bank account itself youll prob need a comprovante with your name on it eventually. maybe ask your host to add u to a utility bill?

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Utility bills in someone else's name are a pain at Banco do Brasil, so ask the host for a comodato letter instead.

Probably fine, my bank took a comodato instead.

Minimum card charge is normal, service fee usually isn't.

arrow_drop_up 8 arrow_drop_down

The card thing is common but sitting fees are rare in SP, unless it's couvert artistico which some places charge for live music.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

yeah the card thing's standard but that service fee sounds made up, maybe he meant couvert artistico like the other person said
