I keep hearing that paulistanos are friendly but hard to pin down, so I'd love to know what surprised you most.

spent two months there last year, apps dominate but the real move is botecos in Vila Madalena after 10pm, people loosen up fast

Baixo Augusta, later than that even.

The class divide runs through dating here: rich paulistanos stick to Jardins and Itaim, everyone else crosses the city for a R$40 metro ride.

yeah the metro fare thing is real

Moema and Vila Olimpia too, roughly the same crowd.

Weddings, actually. Paulistanos marry young.

Not sure that holds for everyone. The people I know there who are 30+ are mostly single and in no rush, specially in Pinheiros. The early marriage thing seems more true outside the center, like in the zona leste or interior families.

I'm visiting Sao Paulo in early 2026 and staying not far from Pedacinho de Amor Sandra & Cia. Any good cafes nearby for a proper breakfast, or should I just grab something inside? Padaria Santa Efigênia on Rua Cardeal Arcoverde does a proper pão na chapa and pingado if you want a sit-down breakfast.

honestly i just grabbed pao de queijo and coffee inside last time, decent enough. the little bakery counters round there do a solid misto quente too if u want something warmer. google maps is your friend for teh exact spots.
