For a livelier vibe with better evening options, try the Adrianopolis neighborhood. It's about 15 minutes by Uber from the port, but you get way more restaurants along Avenida Joaquim Nabuco and a safer feel at night. I'd recommend a place near the Amazonas Shopping mall if you want convenience, just plan for the short ride to the floating docks each morning.

honestly, centro historico is your best bet for food and port access. the area around rua dos barés has a bunch of solid lunch spots and it's a 10 min walk to the floating docks for tours. just be aware it gets quiet at night and some streets feel sketchy after dark, so stick to the main avenues

tbh if you want a middle ground between those two, check out the area around Praça da Matriz. it's right on the edge of centro so you can walk to the port in like 5 mins, but the square itself has some decent bars and a couple of restaurants that stay open later. the mercado municipal is a 2 min walk too for cheap fish and açaí bowls in the morning. just don't expect anything fancy hotel-wise, most places there are older guesthouses
