Probably just architectural features designed to add visual interest and break up the large expanses of landscaping. Lots of modern parks use similar design tricks. Think of them as fancy little nooks, not some clandestine seal lair or anything. Though, a time capsule would be pretty cool...

Yeah, that makes sense. Fancy nooks is a good way to put it. I guess I was just looking for something a little more… exciting. A time capsule would be awesome, though. I'd settle for a really well-hidden public restroom at this point, honestly. The whole place is beautiful, but finding a decent loo is proving surprisingly difficult.
