**🏰 Old Town Essentials** Start your Zurich visit in the Altstadt, the medieval old town on the left bank of the Limmat. Climb the 187 steps of Grossmünster's tower for a panoramic view that opens at 10:00 and costs 5 CHF for adults. Then wander down Niederdorfstrasse, a pedestrian lane lined with cafes and shops, and pop into the Kunsthaus Zurich at Heimplatz 1, which is free on Wednesdays. **🚋 Getting Around** Zurich's public transport is a dream: trams, buses, and boats all run on the same ZVV network. A 24-hour pass for zone 110 (city center) costs 8.80 CHF, and you can buy it at any ticket machine or via the ZVV app. Trams 4 and 15 are especially handy for reaching the main station and Lake Zurich. **🖼️ Art and Culture Fix** Beyond the Kunsthaus, check out the Rietberg Museum at Gablerstrasse 15, set in a leafy park and dedicated to non-European art. Admission is 14 CHF, and it's free on the first Wednesday of each month. For something quirky, the Zurich Tram Museum in Burgwies (tram 11) displays vintage trams and offers rides on select weekends. **🌳 Parks and Lakefront** Join the locals at Lake Zurich's eastern shore, where the China Garden (free entry, open April to October) offers a serene escape. Further south, the Zürichhorn park has a popular lido with a 6 CHF entry fee and a lively beer garden. For a quieter spot, head to the Botanical Garden at Zollikerstrasse 107, which is free and open daily from 8:00 to 18:00. **🍽️ Local Food and Drink** Don't leave without trying a Zürcher Geschnetzeltes at a traditional restaurant like Zeughauskeller (Bahnhofstrasse 28a), where mains run around 28 CHF. For a budget bite, grab a sausage from the Sternen Grill at Bellevue (6 CHF) and eat it by the lake. In the evening, the Langstrasse district has a growing craft beer scene, with bars like The Alehouse (Löwenstrasse 12) offering Swiss brews. **🛍️ Shopping and Markets** The Bahnhofstrasse is Zurich's answer to Fifth Avenue, but for something more local, head to the Markthalle im Viadukt in Zurich West (Limmatstrasse 231), open Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 to 20:00 and Saturday until 18:00. On Saturdays, the Bürkliplatz flea market (May to October) is perfect for vintage finds and local crafts. Don't miss the Christmas markets if you're here in December, especially the one in the Hauptbahnhof with its Swarovski crystal tree. **🌃 Evening Activities** For a unique night out, catch a film at the Kino Xenix in Kreis 4, a cozy cinema that shows independent movies in original language. If you prefer live music, Moods Jazz Club (Schiffbaustrasse 6) hosts international acts and has a jam session on Mondays. And for a nightcap, the bar at the top of the Prime Tower (Hardstrasse 201) offers skyline views, though dress smartly. **🎉 Seasonal Highlights** Zurich really comes alive during festivals. In August, the Street Parade draws hundreds of thousands for electronic music and floats along the lake. Spring brings the Sechseläuten festival, where a snowman effigy is burned to welcome summer. And in November, the Züri Fäscht, held every three years, turns the city into a giant fairground (next edition in 2026).
