**🍛 Where to Start** Begin your food journey at the iconic Maquis Tanti, located on Avenue Kwame N'Krumah. This open-air restaurant serves generous portions of grilled chicken with alloco (fried plantains) for around 3,000 CFA. It's a favorite among locals and visitors alike for its lively atmosphere and affordable prices. **🥘 Must-Try Local Dishes** Don't miss the national dish, riz gras (rice cooked in tomato sauce with vegetables and meat), available at Chez Clarisse on Rue 12. Another essential is tô, a millet or corn porridge served with okra sauce, best sampled at Le Tô du Coin in the Ouaga 2000 neighborhood. Both dishes cost between 1,500 and 2,500 CFA. **🌯 Street Food Stalls** For a quick bite, head to the bustling stalls around the Grand Marché (Central Market). Try brochettes (grilled skewers of beef or chicken) for 500 CFA each, or fataya (fried pastries filled with spiced meat) for 200 CFA. The vendors are most active from late afternoon until 9 PM. **🍜 Hidden Neighborhood Gems** In the Dapoya district, find Le Jardin de l'Amitié, a small family-run spot serving excellent poulet bicyclette (free-range chicken) with sauce gombo. It's tucked away on Rue 8.50 and costs about 2,500 CFA per plate. Another gem is La Terrasse in the Zone du Bois, offering grilled fish with attiéké (cassava couscous) for 3,000 CFA. **💰 Local Prices** A typical meal at a maquis (local eatery) costs between 1,500 and 4,000 CFA. Street food snacks range from 200 to 1,000 CFA. For a mid-range restaurant dinner, expect to pay around 5,000 to 8,000 CFA per person. Tipping is not expected but rounding up the bill is appreciated. **🚕 Getting Around for Food** Taxis are the easiest way to reach food spots, with fares starting at 500 CFA within the city center. For a more local experience, take a zemidjan (motorcycle taxi) for 200 to 500 CFA per ride. Always agree on the price before departing. Most restaurants are concentrated in the Ouaga 2000 and Centre districts. **🌙 Best Evening Spots** For a vibrant dinner scene, visit Le Bistrot Latin in the Quartier Latin, open until midnight. Their menu features French-Burkinabé fusion dishes like lamb chops with yam purée, priced around 6,000 CFA. Another evening favorite is Le Verdoyant, a rooftop restaurant on Avenue de la Liberté, offering views and grilled specialties until 11 PM.
