**🍜 Yuxi Rice Noodles** Yuxi is famous for its rice noodles, and the best place to try them is at Old Street Rice Noodle House (No. 12, Renmin Road). A bowl costs around 15-20 yuan and comes with a rich broth, pickled vegetables, and your choice of pork or beef. The shop opens daily from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM, so arrive early to avoid the lunch rush. **🥟 Steamed Buns and Dumplings** For handmade dumplings and steamed buns, head to Xiangxiang Dumpling Shop at 88 Fuxing Street. Their pork and chive dumplings are 12 yuan for 10 pieces, and the soup dumplings are a must-try at 18 yuan per basket. The shop is open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and you can watch the chefs prepare them through the open kitchen. **🍢 Street Food Alley** The Night Market on Nanhua Road is the heart of Yuxi's street food scene. From 6:00 PM to midnight, you can find grilled skewers (2-5 yuan each), spicy tofu, and fried potato cakes. Don't miss the stall at the entrance called Lao Li's BBQ, famous for its cumin lamb skewers. **🍲 Local Hotpot Experience** Yuxi's hotpot is milder than Sichuan style but equally flavorful. Try Yunnan Hotpot King at 45 Huancheng Road, where a shared pot starts at 68 yuan and includes a variety of fresh mushrooms and local greens. The restaurant is open from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and they offer a free dipping sauce bar. **🍵 Tea and Snacks** For a relaxing break, visit Yuxi Tea House at 23 Wenming Street. They serve Pu'er tea from nearby plantations (15 yuan per pot) and pair it with traditional snacks like flower cakes and walnut cookies. The tea house is open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and has a quiet courtyard. **🍚 Farmhouse Cuisine** Just outside the city, Farmhouse Restaurant No. 1 on Fuxian Lake Road offers authentic rural dishes. Try the steamed fish with pickled chilies (48 yuan) and the wild mushroom stir-fry (38 yuan). The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and reservations are recommended on weekends. **🍦 Sweet Treats** For dessert, stop by Yuxi Ice Cream Shop at 67 Zhongshan Road. They make a unique rose-flavored ice cream using local edible roses (12 yuan per scoop). Another local favorite is the glutinous rice cake with brown sugar syrup, sold at street stalls for 5 yuan each. **💰 Budget Tips** Most street food meals cost between 10 and 30 yuan, while a sit-down dinner at a mid-range restaurant runs 50-80 yuan per person. Carry small bills as many stalls don't accept digital payments. The best value is the lunch specials at noodle shops, which often include a drink for under 25 yuan.
