**🏯 Explore Historical Sites** Start at the Con Son Kiep Bac complex, a UNESCO site honoring Tran Dynasty heroes, open daily from 7 AM to 6 PM with a 50,000 VND entry fee. Nearby, the 600-year-old Chu Van An Temple offers a peaceful retreat and hosts a lively festival each January. For a deeper dive, the Hai Duong Museum on Nguyen Van Linh Street showcases artifacts from the Tran and Le dynasties, with free admission on weekends. **🍜 Savor Local Cuisine** Hai Duong is famous for its green bean cakes, and you can watch them being made at family workshops in Gia Loc District. For a hearty meal, try the bun cha at 45 Tran Hung Dao Street, where a bowl costs around 40,000 VND and is served from 6 AM to 9 PM. Don't miss the chance to sample rượu nếp (rice wine) at a local distillery in Chi Linh, often paired with fresh spring rolls. **🚴 Cycle Through Villages** Rent a bicycle from most guesthouses in Hai Duong City for about 100,000 VND per day and pedal through the Red River Delta's scenic countryside. A popular route takes you to Thanh Ha Pottery Village, where you can try your hand at making ceramics for 30,000 VND. The flat terrain makes it easy to visit multiple craft villages in one day, including the woodcarving village of Dong Giao. **🌳 Relax in Parks** Bach Dang Park along the Thai Binh River is perfect for a morning stroll, with free entry and exercise equipment available from 5 AM to 10 PM. For a quieter escape, the Con Son Pine Forest offers shaded trails and a serene lake, ideal for a picnic. In the evening, locals gather at the August Revolution Square for dancing and people-watching. **🛍️ Shop at Local Markets** Head to Hai Duong Market on Tran Phu Street for fresh produce, clothing, and souvenirs; it's busiest from 6 AM to 11 AM. For a more modern experience, the Big C supermarket on Nguyen Luong Bang Street is open until 10 PM. Don't leave without buying a bag of green bean cakes or lotus seeds, a regional specialty. **🎉 Join Festivals** The Con Son Kiep Bac Festival runs from the 15th to the 20th day of the first lunar month (usually February), featuring boat races, wrestling, and traditional music. In September, the Chi Lang Festival in Chi Linh honors the Tran Dynasty with parades and offerings. Check local listings for exact dates, as they shift each year. **🚌 Getting Around** Hai Duong is well-connected by bus from Hanoi's Gia Lam station, with a 2-hour journey costing around 80,000 VND. Once in the city, xe om (motorbike taxis) are readily available for short trips, typically 20,000 to 50,000 VND. For day trips to rural sites, hiring a car with a driver for about 800,000 VND per day is convenient. **🌙 Evening Entertainment** After dark, the night market on Nguyen Van Linh Street comes alive with street food stalls and live music, operating from 6 PM to 11 PM. For a more relaxed vibe, grab a coffee at one of the rooftop cafes on Tran Hung Dao Street and enjoy views of the city lights. If you're lucky, you might catch a water puppet show at the Cultural Center on weekends.
