**🍽️ Seafood by the Canal** Port Said's location at the Mediterranean entrance of the Suez Canal means fresh seafood is a highlight. Head to the fish market area near the Canal Harbor, where you'll find casual stalls grilling catch of the day. A generous plate of grilled shrimp or sea bass with rice and salad costs around 150 to 250 EGP. For a sit-down experience, try El Borg Seafood Restaurant on Palestine Street, open daily from noon to midnight. **🥙 Street Food Classics** The streets around El Gomhoreya Square come alive in the evening with vendors selling koshari, taameya, and shawarma. A bowl of koshari (rice, lentils, pasta, and tomato sauce) sets you back just 20 to 35 EGP. Don't miss the falafel sandwiches at Mohamed Ahmed's cart near the main post office, open from 6 PM to 2 AM. For a quick bite, try the liver sandwiches at El Tahrir Street stalls, priced at 25 EGP. **🍢 Grilled Meats and Kofta** Port Said has a strong tradition of grilled meats, especially kofta and kebab. El Mashrabeya Restaurant on Safiya Zaghloul Street serves generous mixed grill platters for 200 to 300 EGP, open daily from 1 PM to 1 AM. Another local favorite is Abou El Sid, near the Corniche, known for its succulent kofta and fresh bread. Vegetarians can enjoy grilled halloumi and vegetable skewers at both spots. **🍰 Sweet Treats and Desserts** Egyptian desserts are a must, and Port Said has several beloved sweet shops. El Abd Patisserie on El Gomhoreya Street offers basbousa, konafa, and baklava by the kilo, with prices from 80 to 150 EGP per kilo. For a quick treat, try the rice pudding at the street carts near the ferry terminal, open from 4 PM to 11 PM. In summer, look for fresh mango and strawberry ice cream at Glace on the Corniche. **☕ Cafes and Breakfast Spots** Start your day like a local with ful medames and eggs at El Falah Restaurant on El Geish Street, open from 6 AM to 2 PM. A full breakfast with tea costs around 50 to 70 EGP. For coffee and pastries, Cafe El Shark on Palestine Street is a popular spot, open 24 hours. Many cafes also serve shisha, so you can relax after your meal. **💰 Budget and Mid-Range Picks** Port Said is very affordable for food lovers. A filling street meal rarely exceeds 50 EGP, while a mid-range restaurant dinner for two with drinks costs about 400 to 600 EGP. For the best value, eat where the locals do: the small eateries around the El Araby Market. Keep cash on hand, as many street vendors and small restaurants do not accept cards. **🚶 Food Neighborhoods to Explore** The El Gomhoreya district is the heart of Port Said's food scene, packed with street stalls and casual restaurants. The Corniche area offers seafood with a view, while El Tahrir Street is great for late-night snacks. For a more local vibe, wander through the El Manakh neighborhood, where you'll find tiny bakeries and grill houses. Most areas are walkable, but you can also take a taxi for around 20 to 30 EGP between districts. **🕒 Timing Your Food Tour** Port Said eats late, especially during Ramadan. Most restaurants open around noon and stay busy until 1 or 2 AM. Street food vendors typically start setting up around 5 PM and peak from 8 PM to midnight. If you want to avoid crowds, visit popular spots between 3 PM and 5 PM. During summer, outdoor seating is best after sunset when the sea breeze cools things down.
