**🗺️ Day 1 Morning: Lakefront** Start your day at Place de l'Indépendance around 8:00 AM to soak in views of Lake Kivu. Walk 10 minutes south along Avenue du Lac to the Bukavu Port, where you can watch fishing boats unload their catch. Grab a coffee at Café du Lac (open 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM) before heading to the nearby craft market. **🏛️ Day 1 Afternoon: Cultural Sites** After lunch, visit the Musée de Bukavu (open 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, entry 5,000 CDF) on Avenue de la Paix to learn about local history. Then take a 15-minute moto-taxi ride (about 3,000 CDF) to the Cathedral of Bukavu for its impressive architecture. End the afternoon with a stroll through the lively Nyawera market. **🌅 Day 2 Morning: Nature Hike** Head out early at 7:00 AM for a guided hike in Kahuzi-Biega National Park (about 45 minutes by 4x4 from town, arrange transport the day before). The park is home to eastern lowland gorillas, and tours start at $50 per person. Bring water and sturdy shoes; the hike lasts about 3 hours. **🍽️ Day 2 Afternoon: Local Flavors** Return to Bukavu by 1:00 PM and have lunch at Chez Nicaise (Avenue du Commerce), known for its grilled tilapia and plantains, around $8. Afterward, explore the nearby artisans' cooperative on Avenue Lumumba for handmade souvenirs. Take a 10-minute walk to the lakeside promenade for a relaxed afternoon. **🎶 Day 2 Evening: Nightlife** Start your evening at 7:00 PM with a sunset drink at Hotel Orchid's terrace (Avenue de la Révolution), where cocktails cost about $5. Then head to the lively Nguba neighborhood for live music at Bar Le Select, which gets busy after 9:00 PM. A moto-taxi between the two spots takes about 10 minutes and costs 2,000 CDF. **🛍️ Day 3 Morning: Markets** Spend your last morning exploring the Kadutu market, the largest in Bukavu, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. It's a 15-minute walk from the city center or a short moto ride (2,000 CDF). Pick up local coffee, honey, or fabrics; bargaining is expected, so start at half the asking price. **🚶 Day 3 Afternoon: Relaxed Walk** After lunch, take a leisurely walk along the Ruzizi River promenade, about 20 minutes from the market. Visit the small art gallery at the Institut Français (Avenue de la Paix, open 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM) for rotating exhibitions by Congolese artists. Finish with a fresh juice at the nearby Jardin des Plaisirs café. **🚕 Getting Around** Bukavu's moto-taxis are the fastest way to get around, with most trips within the city costing 2,000 to 3,000 CDF (about $1 to $1.50). For longer trips, such as to the national park, arrange a private 4x4 through your hotel; expect to pay around $40 for a half-day. Always agree on the fare before you start your ride.
