The main hall houses a 12-meter-tall bronze Buddha that was cast in the Tang Dynasty. Admission is 30 yuan, and the temple is open daily from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Don't miss the tranquil bamboo garden behind the main hall, a favorite spot for local monks to meditate. **🚣 Cruise the Wei River** A boat cruise along the Wei River is a relaxing way to see Shenzhou from a different angle. The one-hour cruise departs from the Old Wharf every hour on the hour from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Tickets cost 60 yuan for adults and 30 yuan for children under 1.2 meters. The evening cruise at 7:00 PM offers stunning views of the illuminated city walls. **🍜 Taste Local Street Food** Shenzhou's street food scene is concentrated around Renmin Road and the night market near the train station. Must-tries include Shenzhou braised pork (15 yuan per serving) and hand-pulled noodles with beef (12 yuan). The night market runs from 6:00 PM to midnight, and the busiest stalls are those with the longest lines. For a sit-down experience, try Lao Wang's Noodle House at 45 Renmin Road, open until 10:00 PM. **🎎 Discover Folk Art Museum** The Shenzhou Folk Art Museum showcases local crafts like paper-cutting, embroidery, and clay figurines. It's located at 12 Wenhua Street, just a 10-minute walk from the central square. Admission is free, but special exhibitions may charge 20 yuan. Workshops on paper-cutting are held every Saturday at 2:00 PM for 50 yuan. **🌳 Relax in People's Park** People's Park is the green lung of Shenzhou, covering 20 hectares with a lake, pavilions, and a small amusement park. It's a great place to people-watch and see locals practicing tai chi in the early morning. The park is free to enter and open from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Rent a paddle boat on the lake for 30 yuan per hour, or join a game of Chinese chess with the regulars. **🛍️ Shop at Dongfang Market** Dongfang Market is the largest indoor market in Shenzhou, selling everything from fresh produce to clothing and electronics. It's located at 88 Dongfang Road, easily accessible by bus lines 3, 7, and 12. The market is open daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Bargaining is expected, so start at half the asking price. Several shops near the south gate rent bikes for 20 yuan per day, including a lock and map. A popular route is the 15-kilometer loop to Longhu Village, passing rice paddies and ancient bridges. The terrain is flat and the roads are quiet, making it suitable for all fitness levels. Start early to avoid the midday heat.
