**🗺️ Day 1 Overview** Start your trip in the city center, where most historic sites and local eateries are clustered. Plan to arrive by 9 AM to make the most of the morning. The central area is walkable, so you won't need a taxi until later. **🏛️ Morning: Historic Core** Begin at Kaiyuan Confucian Temple (No. 12 Wenmiao Road), open 8 AM to 5 PM with a 20 RMB entry fee. Spend about 90 minutes exploring the Ming dynasty architecture and peaceful courtyards. Then walk five minutes to the nearby Kaiyuan Museum (free entry, closed Mondays) for a quick overview of local history. **🍜 Lunch: Local Noodles** Head to Old Street Noodle House (78 Zhongshan Road) for a bowl of hand-pulled noodles with braised beef, priced around 15-20 RMB. The shop is busy between 12 and 1 PM, so arrive slightly before noon. If you prefer something lighter, try the steamed buns at Lotus Snack Bar next door. **🌳 Afternoon: Park and Temples** Take a 10-minute taxi (about 10 RMB) to West Lake Park, a serene spot with walking paths and a small pagoda. Entry is free, and you can rent a paddleboat for 30 RMB per hour. From there, walk 15 minutes to the Three Pagodas Temple (entry 15 RMB), which offers great photo opportunities before sunset. **🌆 Evening: Night Market** Return to the city center around 6 PM and explore the Kaiyuan Night Market on Renmin Road. Stalls open from 5 PM to 11 PM, offering grilled skewers, fried tofu, and fresh sugarcane juice. Most items cost 5-15 RMB, making it an affordable and lively dinner option. **🚌 Day 2: Suburbs by Bus** Day two takes you to the outskirts. Take bus route 101 from the central station (2 RMB, 30 minutes) to the Hot Spring Valley area. Buses run every 20 minutes starting at 6:30 AM. Buy a day pass for 10 RMB if you plan multiple rides. **♨️ Morning: Hot Springs** Arrive at Kaiyuan Hot Spring Resort (No. 88 Hot Spring Road) by 9 AM. The public pools cost 80 RMB per person and are open from 8 AM to 10 PM. Soak for two hours in the mineral-rich waters, then enjoy the on-site foot bath area for free. **🥟 Lunch: Countryside Eats** Walk five minutes from the resort to Grandma's Farmhouse (222 Village Road), a rustic restaurant serving home-style dishes like braised pork and stir-fried greens. A full meal costs about 40-50 RMB per person. Try the local specialty, bamboo rice, for an extra 10 RMB. **🏞️ Afternoon: Hiking Trail** After lunch, take a 15-minute taxi (20 RMB) to the trailhead of Green Mountain Path. The 3-kilometer loop takes about 1.5 hours and offers views of terraced fields and a waterfall. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water, as there are no shops along the route. **🎭 Evening: Cultural Show** Return to the city by bus (route 101, last bus at 7 PM) and catch the 8 PM performance at the Kaiyuan Grand Theater (1 Theater Square). Tickets range from 60 to 120 RMB for traditional music and dance shows. Book online in advance to secure a seat. **🛍️ Day 3: Markets and Crafts** Spend your final day exploring local markets and artisan workshops. Start at the Old Town Bazaar (open 8 AM to 6 PM) on East Street, where you can find handmade pottery and embroidered textiles. Bargaining is expected, so start at half the asking price. **🍵 Afternoon: Tea Tasting** In the afternoon, visit the Tea Culture Center (15 Tea Lane) for a free guided tasting of local pu'er and green teas. The center is open from 10 AM to 5 PM, and you can purchase tea leaves starting at 50 RMB per 100 grams. It's a calm way to end your trip before heading to the station.
