**🏛️ Start at the Cascade** Begin your Yerevan journey at the Cascade, a giant stairway connecting the city center to the Monument neighborhood. Climb the 572 steps for panoramic views of Mount Ararat, or take the indoor escalators to the top for free. Along the way, you'll find the Cafesjian Center for the Arts, with rotating contemporary exhibitions and a sculpture garden. **🏺 Dive into History** The History Museum of Armenia, located in Republic Square, offers a deep dive into the country's past, from ancient Urartu to the modern era. Admission is 1,500 AMD (about $4), and it's open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 AM to 6 PM. Don't miss the Erebuni Museum, built atop the 8th-century BC fortress that gave Yerevan its name, just a short metro ride away. **🎭 Catch a Performance** For an unforgettable evening, book tickets at the Armenian National Opera Theatre, a stunning neoclassical building in the city center. The opera and ballet seasons run from September to June, with ticket prices starting around 3,000 AMD. Alternatively, check out the Yerevan State Puppet Theatre for a more intimate and whimsical show, with performances in Armenian and Russian. **🍷 Sip Local Wines** Armenia is one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world, and Yerevan is the perfect place to taste it. Visit the Areni Wine Factory's tasting room at 3 Amiryan Street, where you can sample their signature reds for 2,500 AMD per flight. For a more modern experience, head to the In Vino wine bar on Pushkin Street, which offers over 100 Armenian labels by the glass. **🛍️ Shop at the Vernissage** Every Saturday and Sunday, the Vernissage open-air market stretches along Khanjyan Street, offering everything from Soviet-era memorabilia to handcrafted carpets. Bargaining is expected, so start at half the asking price and work from there. For a more curated shopping experience, visit the Tufenkian Artisan Stores at 48 Hanrapetutyan Street, which sell high-quality textiles and ceramics. **🚌 Getting Around** Yerevan's public transit is affordable and efficient, with the metro costing just 100 AMD per ride. Buses and minibuses (marshrutkas) cover the entire city, and you can buy a rechargeable transit card at any metro station. For a more scenic route, take the 46 bus from Republic Square to the Cascade, which winds through the city's leafy boulevards. **🌆 Evening Strolls** As the sun sets, join the locals on the Northern Avenue, a pedestrian boulevard connecting Republic Square to the Opera. The avenue is lined with fountains, cafes, and street performers, making it a lively spot for a leisurely walk. For a quieter evening, head to the Lovers' Park, a hidden gem with a small lake and shaded paths, perfect for a romantic stroll. **🍽️ Eat Like a Local** For authentic Armenian cuisine, visit Tavern Yerevan at 91 Teryan Street, where you can feast on khorovats (barbecue) and fresh lavash for around 5,000 AMD per person. For a quick bite, grab a lahmajo at the popular Lavash restaurant on Tumanyan Street, open daily from 10 AM to midnight. Don't forget to try the local sweet, gata, from the Grand Candy cafe near the Opera.
