Is there a recurring group or weekly thing around places like 35 Bia Sệt where a newcomer could actually become a regular? I'd rather find something steady than just hit random bars.

quan nhau regulars usually form around a shared table not a venue, so join a facebook group for expats in District 7 and ask who wants to start a weekly one

35 Bia Sệt is more of a sit-down-and-drink spot than a mingling one, tbh. Your better bet for becoming a regular is a smaller neighborhood quán in Binh Thanh where the same crowd shows up nightly; learn a few Vietnamese phrases and the bia hoi pourers will remember u fast.

the plastic stool crowd at 4pm on Pham Van Dong

yeah sit-down spots are tough to break into solo. smaller quan on a hem off Nguyen Trai works better, same uncles every night & they'll wave u over by week two. go before 6 or the good tables are gone

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

most quán nhậu start filling after 7pm though

arrow_drop_up 21 arrow_drop_down

closes 11pm sharp, so start 8

agreed, but learn "mot, hai, ba, zo" first

Best dermatologist in Ho Chi Minh City 2026?

Any recommendations for clinics around District 1 or District 3, and do they take international health insurance? Also curious what a consultation typically costs out of pocket.
arrow_drop_up 13 arrow_drop_down

I went to Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong at the Victoria Healthcare clinic on Nguyen Van Troi in District 3 and they handled my insurance paperwork directly. Consultation ran about 500,000 VND out of pocket, though eczema follow ups might be cheaper.

Second this, but book ahead, walk-ins wait hours

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Weekday mornings, right at opening.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Do they bill your insurer direct or reimburse u later?

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

good to know they file the paperwork for u. did that 500k include the actual prescription or just the consult? asking cause my eczema stuff usually doubles the bill once creams get added

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Usually the consult fee is just the exam, creams get billed separately at the pharmacy counter. Ask them to write the generic name, since the branded tubes can run 300 to 600k each and generics are often half that.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Consult fee only, and the pharmacy at FV Hospital on Nguyen Luong Bang charges separately, so budget roughly double once your steroid cream is added.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Prescription's on top, so closer to 900k all in.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Worth checking if they still take your specific insurer in 2026, contracts shift yearly and eczema care often needs pre-auth.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Did they quote u a follow up price too?
