Best com tam near Quán cơm Nga in Ho Chi Minh City?

if u want a different option the com tam stalls around vo van tan do a good version with the shredded pork & egg cake, cheaper than sitting down at a name spot too. go before 11 or the good stuff runs out. tbh the broken rice is pretty forgiving anywhere, the fish sauce is what makes or breaks it

Quán cơm Nga is fine but go at 7am

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

yeah 7am is right, by 9 the com tam is fine but the cha and the good bits of skin are picked over

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

sundays they open later, like 8ish

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

good to know, i usually aim for around 6.30 on weekdays when the com tam is still warm and the place is quiet

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

id skip the com tam there honestly and hit a stall closer to ben thanh, the grilled pork is better

idk if its still there in 2026 but worth a look

ben thanh stalls are pricier for tourists tbh, the ones down co giang do better grilled pork for half

Check whether your visit falls on a weekday, since the District 3 spots near Vo Van Tan get slammed on weekends and the good tables go first. Also confirm the place isn't closed for Tet if you're coming in February.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

tet shutdowns hit the whole first week, not just the day

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

weekend queues peak around 8.30 so go 7.30 if u cant do a weekday, and call the quán directly about holiday closures rather than trusting google

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

idk about that spot specifically but the good bún bò places usually sell out by like 10 or 11am so go early. maybe google the hours before u trek out there

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

yeah 9am safer, the broth runs out first

Worth adding that bún bò Huế spots often do a second smaller cook for the lunch crowd, so a noon arrival isn't always hopeless. Call ahead if it's a sit-down place, the phone usually gets answered before the kitchen opens.

The 10 to 11 window is about right for the popular ones, though the tiny spots on Nguyen Trai sometimes run dry closer to 9.30. I'd go by 9 and treat it as breakfast, the broth is richer before the lunch rush thins it out.
