Any hidden gems in Tashkent that tourists miss?

I'm heading to Tashkent in about 4 months and want to go beyond the usual spots. Anyone know some under-the-radar places worth checking out? I'm heading to Tashkent in about 4 months and want to go beyond the usual spots. Anyone know some under-the-radar places worth checking out?

honestly if you want something weirdly beautiful check out the Holy Assumption Cathedral it's a russian orthodox church hidden behind a market near Chorsu. not on any tourist map but the blue domes and gold crosses look surreal against the soviet blocks around it. also there's this old tram line on Amir Timur that goes through a tunnel under the city, costs like 200 som and feels like time travel. grab some non from a street stall near the circus stop, the sesame ones are best.

Most tourists rush through the Chorsu Bazaar but never go upstairs to the old caravanserai section. There's a tiny choyxona tucked away on the second floor where locals sip green tea and you can see the whole dome from above. If you're into Soviet architecture, walk down Shota Rustaveli Street near the TV tower it has these brutalist apartment blocks with mosaic murals that feel completely forgotten. The Tashkent Metro is famous, but skip the busy stations like Kosmonavtlar and hit Mustaqillik Maydoni instead it's quieter and the chandeliers are genuinely stunning.

If you're looking for something totally off the radar, find the Museum of Applied Arts on Rakatboshi Street. It's housed in a former Russian diplomat's mansion with insane wood carvings and colorful ceramic tiles, and the courtyard has a tiny cafe where they serve real Uzbek plov for like 15,000 som. Tourists go to the big plov center but this place is quieter and the walls are covered in suzani embroidery. Also, walk over to the nearby Minor Mosque at sunset, it's not hidden exactly but the reflection pool out front catches the light in a way that makes it feel like your own private discovery.
