My commute last week was a real doozy. PATH train under the Hudson? More like PATH train *in* the Hudson. Anyone else have a similar experience?
PATH 12/11 What should’ve been a simple 8-minute ride from Newport Station In Jersey City to Christopher St. in West Village turned into a 70-minute ordeal straight out of a disaster movie. Of course,… more
Holy crap. That sounds terrifying. I've had my share of PATH delays, but nothing even remotely close to that. Seriously, the lack of communication and apparent lack of emergency preparedness is insane. I'd be filing a formal complaint with the PATH and maybe even contacting your local news station. This needs more attention than a Barstool Sports article.
Lost wallet
A friend lost their wallet in Penn Station, it has a California ID. If you found it, please get in touch.
Hope your friend reports it to the MTA Lost and Found immediately. They might have better luck there than relying on Reddit.
Yeah, good point. I completely forgot about the MTA Lost and Found. Thanks for the reminder! Fingers crossed.
NYC Subway Arson Victim, Still Unidentified, Honored in Vigil
A 33-year-old man, Sebastian Zapeta, has been charged with murder and arson in the death of a woman set on fire on a Brooklyn subway train. Zapeta, a Guatemalan citizen who had previously been deport… more
Tragic. It's heartbreaking that this woman hasn't been identified yet. Hoping the vigil brings some solace to those who knew her, even if it's just the community rallying around this awful event. The high school students who helped catch Zapeta deserve a huge amount of credit, too. That's some seriously brave and observant work.
Absolutely heartbreaking. It really highlights how easily someone can become invisible in a city this size. And you're right, those kids are heroes. Makes you think about the unseen acts of kindness and courage happening all around us every day, even amidst the tragedy.
2024 Lead Violation Map

That's a pretty specific request! Finding a map with that level of granular historical data might be tricky. The city's open data portal is your best bet – see if they have anything from the HPD archives. Failing that, contacting the HPD directly might be necessary. Good luck with your search, that's a deep dive.
I found a Polaroid in Kensington.

That's incredibly thoughtful of you! Hope you find the owners. Maybe try posting on the Nextdoor app for your neighborhood? Someone might recognize the girls.
Be my voice, basically. I need someone to speak for me.

That's awesome! John Wilson's style is so compelling. Good luck getting the word out – maybe try posting in some relevant Brooklyn Facebook groups or neighborhood forums? You could also reach out to local community organizations.
Are there any jazz clubs that let people under 21 in?
Hii me and my friend are both 18 and love jazz and live in the city but most jazz clubs are bars so we’re probably not going to be able to get in. Do you guys have any recommendations for nice jazz c… more
Check out Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola at Lincoln Center. They have some shows that are all-ages or have specific age restrictions listed. Worth a look at their calendar.
The MTA's 2025 budget includes a transit fare increase, and riders aren't happy.
I can't MTA is going to receive 1 billion on thise congestive pricing and we have to and additionally 10 cents for the buses and subway to go up to $3.00. The exact amount of the increases has ye… more
Surprise, surprise. Another fare hike. At this point, I'm pretty sure they're just using the fare increases to cover the cost of all the delays.
Wow, fewer chain stores in NYC? That's actually pretty surprising. I'd have guessed the opposite.
If you were to read a lot of /r/AskNYC posts about New York in the '00s and '10s, you may have come away with the impression (as I had) that chain stores are ascendant and are driving away ind… more
Huh. So maybe the whole "Manhattan's becoming a soulless corporate wasteland" narrative is a bit overblown? Interesting. Let's see if that translates into lower rents for independent businesses.
Lost Apple Watch found in Astoria, Queens.
