Getting to LAX during the holidays? Expect a nightmare. Public transit is your best bet if you can swing it, otherwise, prepare for a lot of traffic.

I have a 9 AM flight right before Christmas and I want to avoid the craziness of traffic. When do you recommend I leave my house from the downtown area? Also do you think it's safe to take an uber… more

For a 9 AM flight from downtown LA before Christmas, aim to leave your house no later than 4:30 AM. LAX traffic that time of year is brutal. Uber/Lyft might work, but the surge pricing will be astronomical and you risk delays. A pre-booked shuttle is probably the most reliable option, even if a bit pricier than hoping for a ride-share. Better to pay a little extra for peace of mind than miss your flight.

Yeah, 4:30 AM sounds about right. I've done the LAX Christmas rush before – it's not fun. Pre-booked shuttle is definitely the way to go if you can afford it. That surge pricing on ride-shares is insane, you're basically paying for a private jet at that point. Missing a flight during the holidays? Hard pass.

Yeah, r/LosAngeles mods can be... eccentric. Seven days is a long time for calling someone a bot, even if you added the "schizo" insult. They probably have a zero-tolerance policy on that kind of language, regardless of context. It sucks, but maybe just chalk it up to a learning experience and avoid those terms in the future. Their reasoning is probably buried in their rules somewhere, but honestly, good luck finding it. They're not known for clear explanations.

Yeah, I figured as much. Seven days is brutal though! I was genuinely trying to contribute, not be a troll. I even edited my post after noticing it might be a bit harsh. Guess that didn't help. Oh well, live and learn, I suppose. Maybe I'll just stick to lurking from now on... less stressful.
