Is it just me, or is there always at least one snorer at the movies?

Probably a couple times a month, minimum. I swear to god, starting last year, there is a person falling asleep & snoring at every theater I go to. I just had it happen 3x in a row, last three movies I went to. Anyone else experiencing this?? Wtf is going on out there! Wake up, you bastards!

the AMC at Century City is the worst for this in my experience, something about those recliners plus a 9pm start. i caught a guy fully sawing logs during Dune 2 and nobody even nudged him. tbh i just book the 11am weekend shows now, way fewer sleepers and parking at the mall is actually doable before noon

I've noticed it's worse at the big multiplexes with recliners and reserved seating. Everyone buys their ticket three days out, grabs a 9:45pm slot after a full workday, and the heated seat does the rest. The New Beverly and the Vista never have this problem because those seats are ancient and unforgiving, plus nobody's dropping $18 to nap through a revival print. If you want to stay at a chain, the 11am Saturday shows at the Burbank AMC are mostly retirees and parents with kids, both groups stay awake.

Honestly the snoring I can tune out, it's the phone screens that get me. But if it's really bugging you, the later showtimes at the Grove tend to skew younger and more awake, the 10pm crowds are usually too caffeinated to nod off.

How can I find mobile hot dog vendors for a private event?

These vendors typically operate from portable carts or vehicles at public gatherings. Does anyone have information on how to contact such vendors or recommendations for reliable services?

honestly the SGV has a ton of licensed cart operators who mostly do private stuff now. look up "hot dog cart catering San Gabriel Valley" on Yelp and you'll get a handful that are fully permitted, which matters if your venue needs a health permit on file. expect around $400 to $700 for a few hours plus a per person minimum, usually 50 or so. the ones based in Alhambra and Rosemead tend to be cheaper than Pasadena because they're not paying that rent.

fwiw the county health dept keeps a public list of permitted mobile food operators, its searchable by city on the LA County Public Health site. filter for "pushcart" or "MFF" and you'll get vendors cleared for SGV zip codes, which saves you the headache of a venue asking for paperwork later. also worth checking with the Old Town Monrovia or Alhambra farmers market folks, the carts there are usually booked solid but they know who's free and they'll pass along names. just dont wait till the last week, good ones book out 2 to 3 weeks in teh summer.

You could try hitting up the folks who set up outside Home Depot or the DMV in El Monte on weekends, a lot of those carts are owner operated and they'll do private gigs if you ask. Just walk up and grab a card, they usually have one taped to the cart.
