They described the postpartum rooms as "quads" with shared walls, but I didn't understand if that meant we would be in a private space or not. Can anyone here share their experience with the postpartum rooms at Cedars? Thanks!

The rooms are private, you just share a small anteroom area with three other families where the nurses station is. I was in one of those quads two years ago and never heard my neighbors through the walls if that's what you're worried about. The tradeoff is you get a much bigger room than the standard private ones on the other floors, which felt worth it to me.

Yeah so the "quads" thing is misleading. You're in a private room, it's just that the rooms are arranged in groups of four around a nursing station. I had my kid there last year and it was totally private, just the shared wall thing with the nurses in the middle.

honestly the quads are private rooms just laid out in a cloverleaf pattern around a central nurses station. i was in one last spring and honestly my main tip is request a room on the west side of the building if you can - the afternoon sun coming through those big windows is brutal for napping and the east side rooms stay cooler. the rooms themselves are pretty big which is nice but the bathrooms are tiny, like airplane bathroom tiny, so just be prepared for that

These vendors typically operate from portable carts or vehicles at public gatherings. Does anyone have information on how to contact such vendors or recommendations for reliable services?

honestly the SGV has a ton of licensed cart operators who mostly do private stuff now. look up "hot dog cart catering San Gabriel Valley" on Yelp and you'll get a handful that are fully permitted, which matters if your venue needs a health permit on file. expect around $400 to $700 for a few hours plus a per person minimum, usually 50 or so. the ones based in Alhambra and Rosemead tend to be cheaper than Pasadena because they're not paying that rent.

fwiw the county health dept keeps a public list of permitted mobile food operators, its searchable by city on the LA County Public Health site. filter for "pushcart" or "MFF" and you'll get vendors cleared for SGV zip codes, which saves you the headache of a venue asking for paperwork later. also worth checking with the Old Town Monrovia or Alhambra farmers market folks, the carts there are usually booked solid but they know who's free and they'll pass along names. just dont wait till the last week, good ones book out 2 to 3 weeks in teh summer.

You could try hitting up the folks who set up outside Home Depot or the DMV in El Monte on weekends, a lot of those carts are owner operated and they'll do private gigs if you ask. Just walk up and grab a card, they usually have one taped to the cart.
