I keep going to diff local shops for an iced coffee and it's this dinky lil thing for $9. I need a coffee that's gonna to propel me through the day that I won't finish in three sips

Also if it's near silver lake or Hollywood I would appreciate those recs :)

If you're anywhere near Los Feliz, Figaro Cafe on Vermont pours a proper 16oz iced coffee and it's closer to $5 than $9. They brew it a bit strong which is exactly what you want when it's going to sit over ice. Silver Lake gets all the attention but the Vermont strip between Franklin and Hollywood Blvd has a handful of spots that don't price like they're on Sunset.

h coffee in hollywood on santa monica blvd does a 20oz iced coffee for around $4, and they dont blink if u ask for extra ice in a bigger cup. if ur in silver lake, lamill on silver lake blvd is solid but their iced coffee runs small, so ask for the iced americano instead, it comes in a 16oz and you can get it iced with an extra shot for like a buck more. tbh the trick at most of these spots is just ordering an americano over ice, u get way more liquid than the drip version

honestly ur overpaying at most of these spots. go to a gas station or 7-eleven and get their 32oz iced coffee for like 2 bucks, it's not fancy but it does the job if ur just chasing caffeine. if u want local tho, try dune on sunset in silver lake, their iced americano comes in a solid 20oz and it's around 4.50. also alfred coffee on melrose does a big one but it's pricier, id skip it unless ur already in the area

These vendors typically operate from portable carts or vehicles at public gatherings. Does anyone have information on how to contact such vendors or recommendations for reliable services?

honestly the SGV has a ton of licensed cart operators who mostly do private stuff now. look up "hot dog cart catering San Gabriel Valley" on Yelp and you'll get a handful that are fully permitted, which matters if your venue needs a health permit on file. expect around $400 to $700 for a few hours plus a per person minimum, usually 50 or so. the ones based in Alhambra and Rosemead tend to be cheaper than Pasadena because they're not paying that rent.

fwiw the county health dept keeps a public list of permitted mobile food operators, its searchable by city on the LA County Public Health site. filter for "pushcart" or "MFF" and you'll get vendors cleared for SGV zip codes, which saves you the headache of a venue asking for paperwork later. also worth checking with the Old Town Monrovia or Alhambra farmers market folks, the carts there are usually booked solid but they know who's free and they'll pass along names. just dont wait till the last week, good ones book out 2 to 3 weeks in teh summer.

You could try hitting up the folks who set up outside Home Depot or the DMV in El Monte on weekends, a lot of those carts are owner operated and they'll do private gigs if you ask. Just walk up and grab a card, they usually have one taped to the cart.
