How much extra would you pay to go from a studio to a 1 bed?

Yes I know the difference doesn't have to be that steep but it's more or less in the same area (different zip codes but 5 minutes by car) and comes with all utilities included plus things I don't have currently like central heat and AC, a separate shower, stainless steel appliances, a LOT more natural light and just a more modern feel overall, etc.

I like the location of where I currently live (it's walkable to my gym and lots of grocery and restaurants) but I sometimes get overwhelmed - my closet is too small (came in-built with the unit), I don't have enough space for my cat's toys (I feel like she has no privacy to use her litter, too) and I'm also a big homebody. I work from home and have complete home days sometimes where I just don't even go out! I also can't really have people around in the studio as it feels embarrassing to have your bed just there.

I know a lot of people say, "it's about how much you can afford that $1000" - I can afford it but I also don't come from a background where 1000 is most definitely not throwaway change. I worry I'd be living a little too lavishly if I went for the new place and maybe I don't deserve it but similarly I worry how long it'll be before I find another 1 bed I like (this is the first one since August) and if it would really make a difference mentally to have more space.

Any advice please?

1000/mo is 12k a year, which is real money, but the math people forget is you're wfh so the apt is basically your whole life, not just where you sleep. i'd prob take the 1 bed for the cat litter privacy thing alone, a studio with a cat and a litter box you can smell from the bed gets old fast. only flag is "5 min by car" in this city is a lie half the day, check what that actually looks like at 6pm before you commit.

$1000 for central ac alone in la is almost worth it tbh, those august/september weeks where it's 95 at 8pm and ur studio just bakes, that's real. i'd frame it less as lavish and more as you're buying back a room, if u wfh full time the square footage is basically a second office. the one thing id actually check before signing is parking and whether that "5 min by car" turns into 20 at 5pm on wilshire or la cienega, that commute math changes everything. also the walkable gym/grocery thing is hard to give up, so weigh that honestly

if ur climbing stairs to a 3rd floor walkup now, moving to a 1 bed with an elevator or ground floor changes the daily math way more than 200 sq ft does, esp with groceries and a cat carrier. also check if the new spot is rent controlled (built before oct 1978) bc thats worth real money in la, a non-RSO building can jack u way past that 1000 in a couple years. my take: if its RSO and has ac, id lean yes even with the worse walk score, but if its a newer building with no protections id stay put and keep hunting

How can I find mobile hot dog vendors for a private event?

These vendors typically operate from portable carts or vehicles at public gatherings. Does anyone have information on how to contact such vendors or recommendations for reliable services?

honestly the SGV has a ton of licensed cart operators who mostly do private stuff now. look up "hot dog cart catering San Gabriel Valley" on Yelp and you'll get a handful that are fully permitted, which matters if your venue needs a health permit on file. expect around $400 to $700 for a few hours plus a per person minimum, usually 50 or so. the ones based in Alhambra and Rosemead tend to be cheaper than Pasadena because they're not paying that rent.

fwiw the county health dept keeps a public list of permitted mobile food operators, its searchable by city on the LA County Public Health site. filter for "pushcart" or "MFF" and you'll get vendors cleared for SGV zip codes, which saves you the headache of a venue asking for paperwork later. also worth checking with the Old Town Monrovia or Alhambra farmers market folks, the carts there are usually booked solid but they know who's free and they'll pass along names. just dont wait till the last week, good ones book out 2 to 3 weeks in teh summer.

You could try hitting up the folks who set up outside Home Depot or the DMV in El Monte on weekends, a lot of those carts are owner operated and they'll do private gigs if you ask. Just walk up and grab a card, they usually have one taped to the cart.
