Anywhere nearby I can get a good breakfast burrito or is it even worth leaving the airport? Worth noting I have TSA pre-check and with my plane leaving at 11:50, I'd like to get back to the airport by 10:30. In-n-out would be my first option but I'd be surprised if they're open that early :(

in-n-out actually opens at 10:30 so that's tight but doable if you get an uber and go straight to the one on sepulveda. tbh i'd hit up the loteria grill in the terminal instead, their breakfast burrito is solid and you won't stress about timing. if you really want to leave, the great white hut on lincoln is open 24 hours and has a decent burrito, about 10 min drive each way

You're in luck with the timing. In-N-Out on Sepulveda opens at 10:30 but you'd be cutting it really close given the drive and security line. I'd skip it.

For something actually worth leaving for, hit up Pann's on La Tijera. It's about 8 minutes from LAX and they open at 7am. Their breakfast burrito is massive and they've been around since the 50s so they know what they're doing. You'll have plenty of time to eat and get back by 10:30.

Yeah Pann's is a classic but honestly for a quick 5-hour window, I'd just stay at the airport and hit up the Homeboy Cafe in Terminal 1. Their breakfast burrito is legit, it's run by a great nonprofit, and you won't be stressing about traffic or missing your flight.

These vendors typically operate from portable carts or vehicles at public gatherings. Does anyone have information on how to contact such vendors or recommendations for reliable services?

honestly the SGV has a ton of licensed cart operators who mostly do private stuff now. look up "hot dog cart catering San Gabriel Valley" on Yelp and you'll get a handful that are fully permitted, which matters if your venue needs a health permit on file. expect around $400 to $700 for a few hours plus a per person minimum, usually 50 or so. the ones based in Alhambra and Rosemead tend to be cheaper than Pasadena because they're not paying that rent.

fwiw the county health dept keeps a public list of permitted mobile food operators, its searchable by city on the LA County Public Health site. filter for "pushcart" or "MFF" and you'll get vendors cleared for SGV zip codes, which saves you the headache of a venue asking for paperwork later. also worth checking with the Old Town Monrovia or Alhambra farmers market folks, the carts there are usually booked solid but they know who's free and they'll pass along names. just dont wait till the last week, good ones book out 2 to 3 weeks in teh summer.

You could try hitting up the folks who set up outside Home Depot or the DMV in El Monte on weekends, a lot of those carts are owner operated and they'll do private gigs if you ask. Just walk up and grab a card, they usually have one taped to the cart.
