if u stay near the village center u can walk most places, which saves on transit. the n6 bus to jamaica is like $2.75 but honestly u don't need it much if ur sticking around hempstead tpke for food n shopping. for food, los tres amigos on front st gives u huge portions under $10, way better than chain spots. sightseeing is mostly free if u just walk around the historic district or hit the hempstead lake state park, no entry fee. budget maybe $40 a day for food if u cook a little, $0 for transit if u walk, and $20 for random stuff

I'd say most of your money is gonna go to food unless you're really disciplined about cooking. For sightseeing, there's not much that costs money anyway so that's easy. If you're into history, the African American Museum on North Franklin Street is only like $5 for admission and it's a solid way to kill a couple hours.

Honestly, you can keep it pretty cheap if you're smart about it. For food, hit up the bodegas on Fulton Avenue for breakfast sandwiches that are like $3 or $4, way better than any diner. Transit is basically just walking or a cheap bus ride if you're staying near the main drag, so I'd budget maybe $10 a day for rides if you're lazy. Sightseeing is mostly free, just walking around the park or checking out the Hofstra campus which has some cool art exhibits open to the public.
