We did it for a year in London, near Camden Market. It was…intense. Not in a bad way, exactly, but definitely a fast-paced learning experience. Think of it as an accelerated relationship boot camp. We learned things about each other I'm not sure we'd have discovered otherwise, mostly revolving around who hogs the duvet and our individual levels of tolerance for early-morning shower singing. The space was undeniably tight, but we surprisingly found a rhythm. Our strategy? Lots of time spent in cafes and pubs – London’s got plenty! – and focusing on maintaining a clean and organised space. That helped a lot. Financially, it was a massive win. We saved enough to put a down payment on a much nicer place a year later, which more than compensated for the temporary lack of space. It's not for everyone, but if your relationship's solid and you can communicate effectively, it’s definitely feasible. Just be prepared for some seriously intense nearness. And invest in some good earplugs, seriously.
