Queue moves faster than it looks, they pre-slice and fire constantly so ten mins tops. Margherita's around £7.50 for a slice now, which stings but the dough's properly fermented. Fwiw I'd skip the wait and walk two mins to Berwick St Market, the Sicilian place at the back does a thicker square slice for a fiver and no queue. If u want the classic thin fold tho, Slice & Co wins.

the sicilian square's good but the pepperoni one at the back counter beats it tbh

Pepperoni at the back counter, second stall past the flower stand.

That stall's cash only, fiver minimum.

Go before noon, sells out by 1.

yeah the pepperoni one's the move, get there before the lunch rush tho

Fermentation's the real sell, but tbh the £7.50 sting means I only go payday weeks, otherwise Franco's on Old Compton does a solid £5 margherita.

ten mins is optimistic on a saturday, ive waited closer to twenty. worth flagging the square slice place shuts by 3 most days so dont rock up late afternoon expecting it.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Saturdays after 2 is grim, agree. Weekday lunchtime is fine though.

Fair point on the Saturday timing, though I'd add the whole market winds down by mid-afternoon anyway so mornings are your safest bet.

Boil & Bake is decent for a sit-down but their rye loaves are teh real draw, not the bagels. Try Ruben's on Tower Bridge Road if you want a proper deli sandwich instead, closer to you than schlepping east.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yeah the rye is the point. get there before 9 or it's gone

Borough Market, weekday mornings before the stalls fill up

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Northcote Road market on a saturday beats it for a cheap bacon roll, if that's the actual aim.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

not really a bagel thing tho, flour station does decent loaves but you're better off hitting paul rhodes' stall for a bacon sarnie before 8

Beigel Bake, skip Boil & Bake.

brick lane beigel bake at 2am, different queue

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down
Image arabella local ·

the 4am one is the move, no queue at all

Fair enough, but the salt beef there is the real reason to queue, not the bagels themselves.
