Best salt beef sandwich near Sunny Deli in 2026?

Anyone been recently, is it worth the queue at lunch or should I stick to the bagel shop round the corner?

The sandwich is a different beast from the bagel, thicker cut and they pile it higher. Go before noon or you're waiting 20 mins easy. Imo the bagel's still the better eat though.

agreed on the thicker cut but i'd say get it on rye not the bagel, holds up way better with that much meat. and ask for it cut in half or it falls apart by the second bite

honestly the queue at Sunny moves fast after 1:30, but the bagel shop on Fieldgate St is cheaper and imo the meat's just as good.

the piccadilly one is fine for a sit down with ur mum, cakes are decent but nothing special. if u actually want good afternoon tea nearby i'd do the wolseley on piccadilly instead, bit pricier but the pastries are properly made

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Agree on the Wolseley, though book a few weeks ahead cos the afternoon slots go fast and walk ins get turned away.

Yeah booking ahead is essential, I tried a walk in on a Saturday and got nowhere. Worth asking for a booth when you ring, they're quieter and you don't get bumped around by the servers.

Fortnum's at 4pm, quieter than the Piccadilly lot.

Caffe Concerto's fine for a quick slice, not a full tea.
