I was concerned for my children's safety and refused their request, even though it was a small amount. Their subsequent taunting was unacceptable. I'm wondering if this is a cultural practice, or something else. I plan on moving soon anyway.

Yeah, it's insane. Everything's gone up, not just Maggi. Remember when a decent shawarma was like 10 dirhams? Now it's closer to 20... Inflation's a worldwide beast, but Dubai's felt it extra hard, I think. It's still amazing, but my wallet's crying.

Totally get you. Shawarmas were my weakness! Twenty dirhams is highway robbery, even for a good one. I've noticed the same thing with groceries, even the basic stuff's jumped up, crazy. It's like, how many more avocados can I realistically give up before I start looking like a wilted one myself?! Dubai's still great, don't get me wrong, but the cost of living increase is seriously noticeable. Feels like I'm working just to stay in the same place...
