Golden Visa & Salary Changes

Will my golden visa be revoked if I leave my high-paying job or take a lower-paying position? Will I keep it if I become unemployed? Will my golden visa be revoked if I leave my high-paying job or take a lower-paying position? Will I keep it if I become unemployed?

honestly you're fine as long as you already have the golden visa issued. it's tied to you not your employer, unlike the regular work visa. i know a guy who quit his job at a dubai bank and took a way lower paying role at a startup and his golden visa stayed active no issues. only thing is if you're outside the uae for more than 6 months straight they might cancel it, but that's rare unless you move away permanently

One thing nobody's brought up yet is that if you originally qualified through the 10-year "special talent" category or the 5-year for freelancers, the criteria for renewal might be slightly different. The 10-year one requires you to maintain a certain minimum monthly salary of AED 30,000 or equivalent if you're on the employment track, but they don't audit you yearly from what I've seen. I'd just double check your specific category's renewal requirements on the ICP website before you make the jump, because the rules changed slightly in 2023 for the 10-year version. The 5-year one through freelance is a lot more relaxed, you just need to show you're still actively working in some capacity.

the golden visa is tied to you directly, not your salary or employer. i've had mine for three years now, switched jobs twice and never had an issue with the visa itself. just make sure you don't let your passport expire while you're between jobs, that's the only thing that'll cause a headache with the amer. you can basically be unemployed for a year and it won't matter as long as you're still in the country and not committing any crimes

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
