How can I make the most of my free time?
honestly skip the hop-on-hop-off bus, it gets stuck in traffic and the kids will get bored between stops. instead take the metro from Barsha Heights to BurJuman station, then walk into Meena Bazaar, it's way cheaper and you'll feel the real old Dubai vibe. for the xline, book the late afternoon slot so you catch sunset over the marina, and maybe have one adult go with each kid if they're nervous, the 9 year old will love it but the 5 year old might freak out.
for a chill day, head to La Mer beach in Jumeirah, it's got a small waterpark for kids and great food trucks, plus the sea is calm enough for them to paddle. also check out the Dubai Frame, it's a quick 45 min visit and the glass bridge view is a nice contrast to the mall stuff you already did. last day before the airport, just wander around Kite Beach in the morning, grab shawarma from a local spot near the beach, and let the kids run around, it's the kind of low stress day that makes a trip feel complete.
Consider IMG Worlds of Adventure for a day, especially if the kids are into superheroes and cartoons. The hop-on-hop-off bus is a good idea for seeing a lot in a short time, maybe use that for a day to hit some spots you haven't explored yet. And definitely squeeze in Meena Bazaar, the food alone is worth it. The xLine is fun, but might be better suited for just the adults if the kids are a bit young for that kind of thrill.

damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door
yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl
The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
