My travel agent is threatening me with fines because a medical emergency delayed my trip to Dubai. Any advice?

I've been selected as a Security Guard for Transguard Group in Dubai. I cleared my medical, got my entry permit (eVisa), and was scheduled to travel soon. Unfortunately, I recently had a medical emergency and had to undergo minor surgery. My doctor has advised bed rest for a short period before traveling. My entry permit is valid till 15th January. Here's where it gets stressful: My agent is pressuring me to travel immediately, saying that I'll be fined 50 AED per day starting from 5 December 2024 if I delay my flight. They claim the fine is being imposed by Transguard Group and that I'll miss my SIRA training if I don't leave soon, which could result in the company withdrawing their offer. I've been trying to contact Transguard Group directly through their phone number and email to clarify the situation, but I haven't been able to reach anyone. I don't know if the fine is a legitimate policy or just a scare tactic from the agent. Has anyone faced a similar situation or worked with Transguard Group before? How should I handle this? Can a company really impose fines for a medical delay? I'm committed to joining the company but need some time to recover. Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Get everything in writing. Email Transguard directly (not through your agent) explaining the situation and requesting confirmation of the alleged fine policy. CC your doctor's note. If the fine is legitimate, negotiate an extension, they might be more reasonable than the agent. If they aren't, and it's all a scam, you'll have proof for a potential dispute. Don't rush your recovery.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
