Why isn't Aani Payments more popular in the UAE?

The app connects all your bank accounts and allows instant transfers using just a phone number or email. there's no "pending" status, payments either succeed or fail immediately, and there are no fees for transfers. I used to pay 1 aed for transferring between my Mashreq and ENBD accounts, but now its instant and free with aani, also no cooling period for beneficiary as some local banks have. Small merchants could also benefit significantly, as Aani doens't have the 2.5%-4% card payment fees by using simple QR code payments instead of card machines like mastercard and visa. Also features like splitting bills with friends and the upcoming Jaywan Card which will be integrated with your visa/mastercard which will be provided by your local banks, and there could be cashbacks too with this integration. QR code payments wouldn't be much successfull unless Etisalat and DU make Aani work without data packages when mobile data turned on which is why they are launching Jaywan card too.

Probably lack of aggressive marketing and awareness. People stick with what they know, especially when dealing with money. Even with great features, it needs a strong push to break through the established players. The QR code point is interesting; that's a huge hurdle in the UAE's current payment landscape.

I was concerned for my children's safety and refused their request, even though it was a small amount. Their subsequent taunting was unacceptable. I'm wondering if this is a cultural practice, or something else. I plan on moving soon anyway.
