Hi all,

Been looking for a coffee place where one can sit for couple of hours with the intention of unwinding and relaxing?

Went to alot of spots in malls which are crowded and also seats are not comfy to sit.

Comfy seats/sofas makes all the difference.

Share your go to spots please?

If you're ok with leaving the city proper, the Alserkal Avenue area has a couple of quiet spots. Nightjar is small but the back room has low couches and it stays calm until around 11am, after that the laptop crowd rolls in. Bonus is you can walk over to raw coffee or the galleries after.

For pure sofa comfort though, Kaffe Bloom in Al Quoz is my pick. It's tucked in a warehouse so no mall noise at all, and the seating is genuinely loungey. Gets a bit warm in summer since it's semi outdoor but mornings are fine.

honestly the Jumeirah branch of % Arabica gets packed but the upstairs seating at their City Walk spot is dead quiet on weekday mornings. big cushioned benches facing the fountain, nobody rushes u. i usually grab a flat white around 9am and read for two hours straight.

if u want proper sofas tho, try the lobby lounge at Al Manzil in Downtown. technically a hotel cafe but the coffee is decent and the armchairs are the kind u sink into. parking on Mohammed Bin Rashid Blvd is a pain but worth it.

Try the Costa at Dubai Marina Walk, mornings are dead there.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
