It it safe to buy a car from sharjah/Dubai? If i want to buy a car, how do i get it checked before buying it? Are the american cars reliable? If you know a reliable car dealer please let me know. before you even look at cars, sort out the Oman side. cars older than a certain age cant be imported into Oman at all, and theyve tightened the rules on accident and salvage cars. so a 2015 import that looks cheap in Sharjah might be useless to you back home. check the current Royal Oman Police import rules before you commit to anything.

for the inspection use the RTA app to book a Tasjeel test yourself, dont let the seller pick. and ask for the mulkiya plus the previous mulkiya if its a fresh import, so you can see how long it sat.

at 100k aed have a look at a used Lexus ES or a Nissan Patrol if u want something that holds value in Muscat. theyre boring choices but they sell fast there.

my two fils on the inspection side since everyone covered the export bit. book the RTA pre purchase inspection at a Tasjeel or Shamil centre, it's around 250 to 400 aed and they log everything into the system, so the report follows the chassis number. means if u ever resell in Oman the buyer can see it was clean when it left Dubai.

skip the roadside "we inspect for u" guys in Sharjah industrial, half of them are cousins of the seller. and dont buy on a Friday when half the offices are shut, u want the transfer done same day.

at 100k aed i'd actually look at the Dubai Police impound auctions too, they clear the finance and paperwork for u before sale which kills the bank loan headache some of these sharjah lots leave u with. cars there are usually 2018 to 2021 and go cheap cos people forget they exist.

honestly 100k AED is a good budget, you can get something solid instead of gambling on a beat up import. the sharjah market near Maliha Road is where the cheap stuff lives but a lot of it is accident cars or flooded write offs from the US, so be careful. for american cars specifically, a Mustang or Charger can be fine but parts and resale are weaker here, i'd lean japanese or korean at that price.

get any car checked at a proper garage before you pay, places like Dynatrade in Al Quoz or the RTA test center do a pre purchase inspection for a few hundred dirhams. also pull the VIN history, a clean dubai car with full service history at Al Futtaim or similar is worth way more than a mystery import. dont trust the dealer's own "inspection report".

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
