another one to consider is Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZA) near the airport. its not the cheapest at around AED 20k for a license but you get solid office space options and the proximity to DXB is unmatched if you travel a lot or ship hardware. one thing people miss is their innovation license for tech startups which streamlines visa processing, saves you a headache compared to DIC's paperwork

one that doesnt get enough love is Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) just across the border. rent's way lower like AED 5k-8k for a basic license and they've got labs for prototyping if youre doing hardware or biotech. commute from dubai is about 20 mins from al barsha but youll need a car. also no alcohol license needed if that matters to you

If you're on a tight budget, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) is worth a look even though it's not purely tech-focused. Their flexi desk package is around AED 12k and you get access to their coworking spaces and networking events, plus it's in a central spot near the marina. Just make sure your business fits their broader trading vibe.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
