Has anyone found a solution for their home's water pressure being low? The only building where I actually had proper water pressure in the shower was when I lived in Belgravia 2 back in 2020, so It can't be impossible to fix.

Looking online, I can find companies selling water pumps but mostly for villas or for industrial use.

I'm worried about getting a random plumber and their only experience would be using teflon tape for fixing leaks, but not actually knowledgable in water circulation and telling me what pump I can install to make my experience better.

Recommendations are welcome!

yeah i had this exact issue in my place in JLT, drove me crazy for weeks. turns out the problem wasnt the pump at all, it was the shower head itself. those new fancy ones they put in these buildings have flow restrictors built in, u can just pop them out with a pair of pliers

i did that and it doubled the pressure instantly, zero cost. if ur building is new new they prob used the same cheap fixtures everywhere. worth trying before u drop 1200 aed on a pump

if that doesnt work tho, check if ur water heater has a pressure reducing valve on it. mine in the marina had one set to like 2 bar, adjusted it to 3.5 and it was night and day. just be careful not to go too high or u might burst a pipe

try asking ur building's maintenance team first, some new buildings have a central booster pump that can be adjusted. my friend in business bay had them tweak it and it fixed everything, free of charge

honestly, the building's main issue is prob the pressure regulator on the incoming line. most new builds in dubai have them set way too low to save water. i had the same thing in my place in barsha heights, drove me nuts for months

fwiw, a plumber named rafiq from al quoz fixed mine, he's known for this stuff. he installed a small inline booster pump from grundfos, cost me about 1200 aed including labor. u just need to check if ur building allows modifications to the main line first, some management companies are strict about it

the pump itself is tiny, fits under the sink or in the ceiling void. way quieter than those industrial ones u see online. rafiq's number is 050 123 4567, tell him the guy from the 2br in barsha sent u. just make sure he tests the pressure before he leaves

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
