Best mechanic in Dubai for Mercedes?

Hi everyone,

I have a Mercedes SUV that has been giving me some battery issues. Can anyone personally recommend a reliable mechanic in Dubai with experience working on Mercedes cars?

Battery trouble on a Merc in Dubai is often the heat cooking the battery every 18 months or so, but before you replace anything, get the voltage checked cold in the morning. A weak battery reads fine when warm and drops overnight, which is why so many people get told it's the alternator when it isn't.

For an indie, I'd point you to Munich Motor Works in Al Quoz 3, near the FGB metro exit. They mostly do Porsche and BMW but the lead tech there spent years on Merc electrical systems and won't push parts you don't need. Expect around 150 to 200 for a proper diagnostic, and they'll actually show you the printout.

If it's just battery issues, honestly check Al Ghandi Auto in Al Quoz first. They're the official Merc dealer but their service prices aren't as crazy as people think for basic diagnostics, and they'll tell you straight if its a battery or an alternator problem. For an indie guy, there's a small workshop in Ras Al Khor called German Motors, the owner used to work at the Merc dealership in Germany. Cash only though, and he's closed on Fridays.

For battery issues specifically on a Merc, a lot of it comes down to the car sitting too long in the heat here, so before you drop money on a new battery get the alternator and the IBS sensor checked properly. I've had good luck with the guys at Dubai Auto Workshop in Al Quoz, they work on a lot of German cars and won't upsell you.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
