Whats your favorite ground coffee/coffee beans and where do you get it from?

Been looking for some good ground coffee but it is all really expensive (compared to Europe) and not the best. Any suggestions would be great Been looking for some good ground coffee but it is all really expensive (compared to Europe) and not the best. Any suggestions would be great

honestly the move here is buying green beans and roasting at home if you're serious about cost. a kilo of green ethiopian or brazilian runs like 40 to 60 aed from specialty importers and that's roughly double the coffee once roasted. taste blows away most shelf stuff too.

for ready roasted, check the tiny place inside Karama meat market area, forget the name but they roast daily and 500g is around 45 aed. also Baba Coffee roasters in Al Quoz does decent filter roasts without the Alserkal markup.

one thing ppl sleep on: the brazilian and colombian stuff at Union Coop in Al Barsha is fresher than carrefour cos turnover is faster. not amazing but cheap and drinkable.

if u want cheap & fresh try the roast co in al quoz industrial 4, they do 1kg bags for like 90 to 110 aed & roast dates are printed on the bag so u can actually check. avoid anything sitting on carrefour shelves past a few months, the "best before" there means nothing. also worth checking the smaller waitrose in dubai marina, they sometimes stock union hand roasted which is decent for the price

The beans at the big supermarkets like Carrefour or Spinneys are usually stale by the time they hit the shelf, which is part of why they taste flat next to what you'd get in Europe. I've had good luck with Raw Coffee Company on Al Quoz, they roast locally so the beans are actually fresh, and a 250g bag runs around 55 to 70 AED depending on the origin. If you want to save a bit, Nightjar in Alserkal Avenue is worth a look too, though you'll pay a premium for the single origins. Grinding at home makes a bigger difference than most people expect, so even a cheap burr grinder pays for itself within a few months.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
