Too many police cars in old Dubai?

Is it just me or are there exceptionally high number of police cars on the roads? There seem to be atleast 2 at every junction. What's happening? Is it just me or are there exceptionally high number of police cars on the roads? There seem to be atleast 2 at every junction. What's happening?

nah it's not just you, the police presence has definitely been cranked up lately. most of what you're seeing is probably the tourist security patrols near the souks and around bur dubai, they've been running extra shifts since the new year. also a lot of those are unmarked traffic cops hiding near signal boxes on al maktoum road, they're pretty aggressive with fines rn so keep an eye on ur speed

You are probably seeing the increased patrols near Al Fahidi and around the Dubai Creek area. They have been stepping up presence since the new parking zones went live a couple months back, especially around Al Mankhool Road. The civic enforcement cars look just like regular police vehicles from a distance, which adds to the count.

Some of what you're seeing are actually Dubai Municipality patrols, not police. They've been running double shifts around Al Ras and Naif since they started the new street vendor crackdown last month. The white cars with the green stripe look almost identical to police vehicles until you get close enough to read the badge.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
