The thing is that she didn't even look drunk lol which could be because they were giving her water. When the bill came it was 8000+. I checked the menu and they gave her the most expensive whiskey and tequila which was like 290aed a glass. I ended up paying fucking 8000 aed. Any way to recover this? The girl has unmatched on Tinder but still connected on WhatsApp. I have taken a screenshot of her profile and number. She asked me to take her somewhere else tomorrow. What if I take her to the police? What's the best way forward?

The police will take a report but don't expect much follow-up unless you push it. Head to Bur Dubai police station near Al Fahidi, they handle tourist-related scams and speak English well. Bring your bank transaction, her WhatsApp number, and the Bumble screenshot, but know they might just record it as a civil dispute over consent rather than fraud. If you really want to rattle the place, file a complaint with Dubai Tourism's compliance team instead, they can revoke the venue's license for running these table scams. And block her, meeting again is how people end up with a second 8k bill or worse.

That Zorro place has been pulling this for a while. The Dubai Economy and Consumer Protection department handles complaints about overcharging and deceptive pricing, not just the police. File a complaint through their website or the Dubai Consumer app with your receipt and her Bumble screenshots. The venue is licensed so they have to keep transaction records, and DED can audit them. Don't go meet her again, that's just asking for trouble.

yeah that's a classic scam, Zorro and a few other places in Dubai are known for this. honestly the police here take this stuff seriously, so file a report at the nearest station and bring your bank statement and her number. they've shut down places like that before, but you prob won't get your money back fast if at all.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
