Hi everyone!

I'm planning a staycation in Dubai this Christmas and would love your recommendations. Looking for something family-friendly, budget-friendly, and festive, bonus points for great holiday vibes and activities for kids!

Any suggestions for hotels, resorts, or serviced apartments that won't break the bank but still offer a memorable Christmas experience?

Thanks in advance! 🎄

have a look at copthorne hotel dubai on port said road in deira. it's older but well maintained and the christmas decor in the lobby is actually pretty solid. rates drop way lower than the marina or downtown spots and you're walking distance to the deira gold souk and the creek which has that old dubai charm during the holidays. kids get a kick out of the abra rides on the creek and it's like 2 dirhams per person

honestly for a family staycation at christmas thats not gonna cost an arm and a leg, check out the rove hotels. the one at trade centre or the marina one are both solid. they do a good job with the decorations and have kids activities without the resort markup. plus the metro is right there so you can hop over to the dubai mall or la mer for the christmas markets without needing a taxi every time

i'd check out the holiday inn express on sheikh zayed road, honestly. it's not fancy but close to the malls and they do a decent christmas brunch without the crazy price tag. kids'll love the aquarium at dubai mall nearby

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
