Hi,

I have got a job offer in Dubai and the HR is asking me to get my degree attested by the MOFA of the UAE. The company won't start processing my work visa unless I do that step. I can get the attestation all the way to the UAE embassy stage from where I live but not to the MOFA.

Any advice on how to do this last step if you still can't go there and if you don't have people in the UAE to do it for you?!

fwiw a lot of people overlook the courier service at the UAE embassy itself. if you already have the embassy stamp, some embassies offer to forward documents to MOFA in Abu Dhabi directly through their internal mail. costs like 50-100 aed compared to the 300+ the typing centers charge, just slower. ask the embassy consular section if they do it, most do but dont advertise it. also double check with your HR if theyd accept a scan of the MOFA stamp while the physical copy is in transit, some are flexible on that.

Check with a local typing center or PRO service in Dubai, they often handle the whole MOFA step remotely if you courier them the attested docs. I know a few people who used "Amer" or similar govt service centers for that, just email them first.

honestly you can just use one of the online attestation companies like "Al Adil" or "Al Qusais typing" they do the whole thing by courier, you send them the embassy attested docs and they handle the MOFA step in dubai. costs around 300-400 aed depending on how fast you want it done, takes 2-3 days usually. i'd avoid the bigger govt centers for this since theyre slower for remote stuff, the typing centers have this down to a science. just make sure your docs are already stamped by the uae embassy in your country first or theyll reject it

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
