I moved to Dubai things didn't go as expected but got better, i found a remote job that i liked, started dating someone and kinda had a stability i never had. Fast forward to 2024, i broke up with my ex he was horrible to me but i was desperate for a relationship so i stayed until i couldnt, i was super sad, fast forward 2 months later i lost my job unfairly, and it was tough. I stayed positive even though everything was falling apart, i decided to launch my business and take content creation seriously, that's what i have been doing for the past 4 months but so far i am not getting traction, clients for my business or anything and i am starting to feel depleted and hopeless. Life in Dubai is expensive and stressful and you compare yourself for no reason. I also attempted dating but got two mini heartbreaks, two guys i kinda liked , both turned out to ghost me, unfollowed me from social media after i didn't sleep with them (i saw them both twice before) i shouldn't care because obviously they didn't care they just wanted to hit and dip and once they knew it was not going to happen they ditched me, classic tale but after the year i had it was hard not to take it personally and feel a certain way and let it affect my ego and confidence. In general i don't get approached a lot, even though i am "considered attractive" (i am also a signed model), since i am darker skinned i thought that explains why, but it's not only that probably. I guess i tend to overfixate on the few men who give me attention and let it affect my self worth. Anyway the "failures" of my past relationship, the "failures" of my business and endeavors are making me doubting myself, my life, and of course even though 30 is still relatively young i feel a pressure i feel behind, and feel stuck at life. I want to give up on everything but deep down i know i have so much potential and i am a positive and happy person i am just exhausted and really don't know what to do anymore, i tried therapy but i didn't help that much. I should maybe try volunteering or community work on my free time but don't know many in Dubai

30 is young but i get the feeling of being behind, especially in dubai where everyone's posting their highlight reel. the content creation game here is oversaturated tbh, everyone and their cousin is trying to be an influencer. maybe lean into the modeling side more, like reach out to smaller local agencies or photographers in al quoz for test shoots that could lead to paid work, gets you out of the house too.

for the business, have you tried the dubai businesswomen council or even just going to co-working spaces like letswork for a day? sitting alone at home with a laptop makes everything feel heavier. sometimes just being around other people hustling shifts your energy without you even trying.

the dating thing is rough but honestly the ghosting says more about them than you. if you want to meet people in a lower pressure way, the run clubs are huge here now, adidas runners dubai or nike run club at kite beach, no one cares if you're slow, it's just a way to be around people and clear your head. you don't need to solve everything this month, just pick one small thing to try and let the rest breathe for a bit

maybe spend less time on apps and more at places like the courtyard playbook. hobby groups arent just for dating they help with the burnout too. business wise try tashkeel or sikka for creative networking.

honestly i think the problem isnt dubai, its that you're trying to do everything alone here. the city is brutal when you dont have a solid crew around you. have you tried sheraa or in5 for startup stuff? they have free workshops and networking events where you can actually meet people building businesses, not just influencers trying to sell you a course.

the dating scene here is garbage for anyone who wants something real, especially if you're not white or arab. its not u, its the pool. i know a few women who found decent partners through hobby groups like dubai run or even the book club at magazine covers in al serkal. takes the pressure off the whole "date to find a man" energy.

for the business thing, 4 months is nothing in dubai. most people here run on a 6-8 month runway before they see traction. maybe try popping up at riwa market or the friday market at times square center just to get face time with real customers. content creation alone wont pay your bills here unless you already have a following.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
