And what is the average money to be paid to a Handyman in case of repairing?

Depends on the appliance and how old it is. For a microwave under 300 AED, it's usually not worth calling someone out. But for a washing machine or fridge, repair costs around 150-250 AED just for the visit and diagnosis, then parts on top. If the compressor goes on a fridge or the drum bearing on a washing machine, that's often 500+ AED and you're better off replacing it. I've had good luck with the repair shops along Al Quoz Industrial Area 3, they're cheaper than the big brand service centers.

yeah tbh for ACs especially the split units it's a different math. a compressor replacement on a split AC in the summer can run you 800-1200 aed easily from the authorized dealers, but the guys in satwa or naif will do it for 400-600. still if the unit is over 7-8 years old and r22 gas, just replace it cause the new inverter ones are way more efficient and you'll save on dewa bills. for handyman rates, the pakistani or bangladeshi guys working independently charge like 80-120 aed for a simple visit like a microwave fuse or a washing machine belt, but they'll quote 200+ if they know it's a complicated fridge gas leak or ac pcb issue. always ask for the price before they start touching anything in deira or qusais

for big stuff like ACs and fridges, check the warranty first. lots of brands in dubai give 5-10 years on compressors and if you register online it's way easier to claim. i had a samsung fridge compressor die at 3 years and they replaced it free, just paid 100 aed for the technician callout

for handyman pricing, the guys in international city or discovery gardens often charge less than the older areas. i paid 60 aed for a washing machine belt change from a guy in warsan, but he was a referral. facebook groups for your specific building or community are good for finding reliable ones with fixed rates

microwaves are basically disposable here. a new 800w one is 120-150 aed at carrefour or lulu, and a repair callout alone is 80-100. just toss it and buy new

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
