The rules technically haven't changed, but the issue is that the General Directorate of Residency has been inconsistently applying the income requirement. A friend of mine in Business Bay just got his father's golden visa sponsored last week, but he had to show rental income plus his salary to meet whatever threshold the typing center decided on that day. If you already have the 10 year visa, you should be fine, but I'd bring extra documents like property deeds or bank statements proving 30k AED monthly income per parent, just to be safe. Try the typing center on Al Wasl Road near City Walk, they're generally up to date on the actual rules.

honestly the rules havent changed officially but theres been a lot of confusion at amer and typing centers lately. i know a guy who tried to renew his parents visa last month in barsha and they told him they needed a 20k salary certificate per parent even though he already has the 10 year one. might be worth just going to al manara center directly instead of relying on what random people say online

yeah i think the other person is right, it's not that the rules changed but some centers are just making up their own requirements. my cousin got his mom's done in jlt last month with no issues so it's prob just inconsistent. try the al awir center if you're near, they seem chill about it

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
