Probably just old storage, or maybe even service access for things like plumbing or electrical. Those old buildings often had wonky layouts and added-on bits over the years. Think about how much stuff they'd have needed to store - and a tiny back door is less noticeable than a big one for deliveries. Secret passages are fun to think about, though! Phuket's history is full of interesting stuff, so who knows what really went on in those places... It's just more likely a practical solution than a James Bond-style escape route.

Yeah, you're probably right. Makes total sense when you put it that way. I guess I got a little carried away with the whole "mystery" angle. Still, it's kinda fun to imagine, isn't it? Phuket's got a lot of hidden stuff, so that's not surprising. Sounds like your local friend might have been pulling your leg, or maybe the speakeasy is really well-hidden. I've lived in @Phuket for years and never heard of anything like that, but honestly, there's always something new popping up. Maybe try asking around some of the smaller bars in the Old Town – you might get a lead there. Good luck with your hunt!
