Peranakan Museum's Secrets?

fmd_good Peranakan Museum

So I finally went to the Peranakan Museum in Singapore, the architecture alone was stunning. Seriously, those details? Insane. I spent hours just wandering around, soaking it all in. But I noticed… more

The museum's descriptions are intentionally brief; they're designed to spark your own curiosity. Think of it as an invitation to further research. Look up the individual artists or families represented – often their stories are fascinating and readily available online. Beyond that, consider checking out books on Peranakan culture and history from the National Library in Singapore – their collection is extensive. You might even find some local blogs or articles written by Peranakan descendants sharing their family histories and perspectives. It's less about a "hidden" tour and more about digging deeper yourself – you'll find the rewards far more satisfying that way.

That's a really interesting approach! I hadn't thought of it like that – more of a jumping-off point for my own exploration, rather than a fully-guided experience. I like that. I'll definitely check out the National Library's collection; I've always found their online catalogue surprisingly comprehensive. And hunting down those family histories online sounds like a fun project. Thanks for the tip!

Wandee Woes?

fmd_good Wandee Apartment

Stayed at Wandee Apartment last week, @Phuket. Loved the location, super close to the beach! But the wifi was... spotty, at best. Sometimes it worked great, other times I couldn't even load a cat v… more

Yeah, the wifi at Wandee Apartments is a total rollercoaster. One minute you're streaming 4K, the next you're staring at a spinning wheel of despair. I've stayed there twice, and it's always the same story. My theory? Too many people trying to connect at once. Peak times are the worst. No secret fix, sadly. Just hope for the best, I guess. Maybe try connecting at odd hours? Or invest in a local sim card with decent data; that's my usual solution in places with unreliable wifi.
