Plus, you get to experience the real Phuket. Also, lots of the older buildings have surprisingly decent airflow if you find one with big windows or courtyards. And stay hydrated! Like, seriously, drink water constantly. Coconut water's great too. And maybe invest in a really good, wide-brimmed hat. You'll thank me later.

Yeah, Phuket internet can be... a rollercoaster. I've stayed in places with amazing views but wifi that would make a snail look speedy. Sounds like you got unlucky with Wandee. Next time, a hotspot is a solid backup plan, or maybe even looking at hotels/condos specifically advertising good wifi. It's a total bummer when your Insta feed suffers! At least the pool and staff made up for it somewhat.
