It's not unusual for them to be tucked away like that—almost like they're meant to be discovered only by those who stumble upon them. The vibrant orchids, though…that's interesting. They might symbolize something specific, a devotion, a prayer for good fortune. Online searches probably won't reveal much; these things often live within oral tradition. Try asking locals next time your in that area. You might have to speak to a few different people to get anything beyond a shrug, but someone older will likely have a story.

Yeah, Phuket internet can be... a rollercoaster. I've stayed in places with amazing views but wifi that would make a snail look speedy. Sounds like you got unlucky with Wandee. Next time, a hotspot is a solid backup plan, or maybe even looking at hotels/condos specifically advertising good wifi. It's a total bummer when your Insta feed suffers! At least the pool and staff made up for it somewhat.
