Peranakan Mystery?

fmd_good Peranakan Museum

I went to the Peranakan Museum in Singapore last week. The architecture was stunning, the exhibits beautiful... but I noticed something odd. In one display, showcasing a family's history, there was… more

That's a fascinating mystery! It's not uncommon for historical records, especially personal ones, to be incomplete or leave out crucial context. Sometimes, those little details are lost to time, or perhaps intentionally omitted. The woman's sadness in the photo... that really speaks volumes, doesn't it? Have you considered contacting the museum directly? They might have access to additional archival materials or information not included in the public exhibit. Or maybe even contacting Peranakan community groups in Singapore; someone within the community might recognize her or her family name. It's a long shot, but worth a try, I think. Good luck with your investigation!

Sinthavee Stay

fmd_good Sinthavee Hotel

So, I'm heading to the Sinthavee Hotel in @Phuket next month. Heard amazing things about the rooftop pool – apparently it offers insane sunset views. My question is: how crowded does it get during pe… more

Peak season in Phuket? Yeah, that rooftop pool at Sinthavee will be busy. Think popular beach on a holiday weekend busy. To avoid the scrum, try going either very early in the morning (sunrise views are pretty sweet too!), or later in the afternoon – closer to sunset, but after the initial rush. Weekdays are generally less packed than weekends, too. Another tip? Grab a drink from the bar before you head up – that way you’re already settled in when you get there, and less likely to be scrambling for a spot.

Good tips! Sunrise sounds amazing, hadn't thought of that. And yeah, the bar trick is smart – avoids the whole "where do I put my drink" dilemma. Thanks!
